Today I’;m excited to share with you a tutorial to make these DIY Hogwarts House Notebooks as a part of the Happy Harry Potter Series at Rae Gun Ramblings. ?(I’;ve even included a free printable of each of the notebook covers for you).

This is my third year participating in the Happy Harry Potter series. (you can see some of my other Harry Potter Craft Ideas HERE). ?I will have to say, that we are just a tiny bit Harry Potter obsessed at our house. We have the movies on iTunes and I think my 15-year-old daughter watches one almost every day…; Nothing to watch on tv?? Just put Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on (that one is our favorite of the movies).

Last year we visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. I’;ve mentioned before that I think that place is AMAZING. In addition to all?of the great rides and atmosphere, the shopping there is pretty cool too. You can buy house robesaccent pillow case baby canvas home and living, t-shirts, hats, wands, owls and even a sorting hat.

While we were perusing some of the shops I spied a set of House Notebooks and thought it was such a clever idea. The perfect thing for a “;Muggle”; to take with them on the first day of school (so they can imagine that they are really going to Hogwarts instead). ?I made a mental note to try to DIY?them “;someday”;. ?This Harry Potter series seemed like the perfect time to check that project off of my “;to make”; list.

After I finished the project, my daughter saw these and snatched them up right away. She is planning to take them to school to use as notebooks for her classes.

The notebooks are SO easy to make, all you need to do is cover a composition notebook, you can find them all over the stores right now. Most of the ones I’;ve seen are about 50 cents in the back to school section.

Are you ready to make one??NOTE: there was a typo in the notebook shown in the photo. The typo has been corrected in the downloadable file.

-Lightweight Cardstock

Begin by printing out your notebook covers on cardstock. You will have a front and a back for each notebook.

Trim off the excess paper from the left side of the print out for the front cover.

Cover the notebook cover with UHU Glue.

Align the trimmed notebook print out with the binding on the composition notebook. Make sure the print out is covering the entire notebook cover.

Smooth it out to secure the glue.

Flip the notebook over and using an x-acto knife trim off the excess paper so that is even with the edge of the notebook.

Repeat for the back cover.

That’;s it!!

We love using it to gather and share helpful tidbits, inspiring imagery, and even recipe ideas, but we’ve also found it to be a helpful tool for some of our own team members, as well as people and brands who we love to work with! We spoke with a few of our favorite folks to see what they’re pinning and why they love this visual discovery tool!

Won't it be lovely if we could rely on the weather to provide wall to wall sunshine throughout the Summer? Sadly, this rarely happens, but we do get enough sufficiently warm days to warrant taking your living room outdoors for 3 months or so, and we can always keep our fingers crossed that we have an Indian Summer so that we can spend a little longer in the fresh air. Outdoor living has become immensely popular and is gaining in popularity in these times of austerity, after all the new going out is staying in and so why not do it in style?
