‘Tis the season! You know we absolutely love it when our customers share photos of how they welcome Ballard Designs into their home. During the holidays we see so many cozy settings with plenty of Ballard buys. When we came across Sarah Macklem’s Instagram and blogaccent pillow case baby canvas home and living， we just could not resist sharing with you. Sarah is a professional home stylist and the editor of The Yellow Cape Cod. Her own home is a beautiful combination of sensible pieces that express her personal style. She does not shy away from mixing bold colors and patterns! We were tickled when we spotted lots of our pieces mixed with her holiday ornamentation.
Most of her Ballard pieces are practical year-round， such as her black and white shades. The dining room doubles as a home office and features our boldly graphic Haviland Limited Edition Lamp Shades. We love a dramatic and modern take on the classic holiday décor!
Sarah has also incorporated our black and whiteDodie Drum Chandelier Shades into her breakfast area. These shades are a fun addition to any chandelier.
The touches of red and green add the perfect holiday cheer without being over-designed. We love to useshades as a way to express personal style and reflect the season. Changing out shades provides a quick update that isn’；t too expensive.
On her office wall， Sarah has hung our Wood Wall Pocket and temporarily transformed it into a gift wrapping station. Everything is conveniently close by and rather appealing to the eye when supplies are not in use.
Our Suzanne Kasler Antler Stocking Holders are a unique touch to Sarah’s fireplace. These add a rustic feel to her mantel while continuing the modern design throughout her home. We love seeing how our customers add their personal touches to get creative around the holidays.

Growing up in St. Louis, my mom would always take my sister and I to Eckert’s to pick apples in the Fall. I have fond memories of that tradition and the past few years, have continued it with the girls. Yesterday was a perfect day for apple picking! We ventured to Weston’s Red Barn Farm, playing in the orchard, seeing a few animals and indulging on kettle corn. After a fun, but busy week, it was nice to take a step out of the city and enjoy some fresh air and picturesque views. My favorite view is whenever my family is in front of me. It gives me a moment to think about how blessed I am and truly appreciate them.

What springs to mind when you think of patchwork? Typically it would be country cottage, along with Victoriana, Shaker or Shabby Chic – However, it doesn't have to be any of these, although they all offer great interior design styles, you can bring patchwork bang up-to-date by using it as wall covering as well as duvet cover sets, throws, cushions or rugs. Whichever way you wish to bring patchwork into your bedroom you will be pleased to know that another of this year's interior design trends focuses on hand-made and home-made soft furnishings.
